The Swedish centre-back, who had earlier been booked for an elbow on Enes Ünal, was decisive in the opposition box. Shortly before, Soria had stretched to deflect a shot from Javi Rueda following a cross from Hugo González.

What incidents marked the encounter?

The match was punctuated by moments of tension and controversy. Besides Romero's red, the referee showed yellow cards to Mojica for a late tackle on Iago Aspas and to Marcos Alonso and Juanmi Terrats after a confrontation between the two. Getafe also appealed for a penalty for an alleged handball by Starfelt following a header from Ünal, but the official did not award it.
