Getafe claim first pre-season title with dramatic late winner against Tenerife

Getafe CF snatched victory in the Trofeo Ciudad de Santa Cruz after coming from behind to beat CD Tenerife 1-2, with Zaid Romero’s 89th-minute strike sealing the win. José Bordalás’ side claimed their first pre-season trophy of 2026/27 in a tight clash at the Heliodoro Rodríguez López that went down to the wire.

The Azulones, who started their tour brightly, dominated early but failed to convert. After a nervy opening, Tenerife pressed through Krdzalic and Noel, though it was Getafe who struck first in the 38th minute: a Marc Mateu cross found Pecar, who set up Víctor Moreno to beat De Vuyst. The equalizer came in the 54th minute after a penalty won by Uche and converted by Satriano.

How did Tenerife lose control?

CD Tenerife never looked comfortable. While Getafe controlled play early, the Canarians responded with intensity.
