Getafe and Deportivo de La Coruña shared the points in a thrilling 1-1 draw in LaLiga EA Sports. The Madrid side took the lead through Ramón Terrats, but Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's fifth league goal of the season secured a draw for the visitors, who remain unbeaten.
The match, played on Saturday in front of 8,416 fans at the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez, started with the hosts on top. José Bordalás's Getafe had a goal from Iván Azón ruled out for offside and created several chances, with Christian Satriano a constant threat. Deportivo grew into the game after the hydration break and had their best opportunities before half-time, with Mario Soriano and Giacomo Quagliata forcing excellent saves from goalkeeper David Soria.
Terrats sparks home joy
The second half was more even, but it was Getafe who struck first. In a rapid counter-attack, Djené Dakonam won a key challenge against Aubameyang, Terrats drove forward from midfield and, after a pass from Iván Azón, finished precisely past Leo Román. The goal, coming in the second period, sent the home crowd into raptures.
The joy was short-lived. Deportivo, who had already shown their threat, responded through their star man. With minutes remaining, a cross from the flank found Aubameyang in the box, and he fired a first-time shot to score his fifth of the campaign and level the match. The assist came from substitute Yeremay, one of the changes made by manager Antonio Hidalgo.
Post-match reaction
Getafe goalkeeper David Soria, one of the standout performers, expressed his dissatisfaction with the result. "At home you have to take three points against rivals who are direct competitors on paper. We cannot be happy," the keeper said. He added that the team arrived "very stretched" physically after a recent European tie and needs to improve its decision-making in the final third.
Deportivo defender Ximo Navarro was positive about the point earned at a difficult ground. "I think at times in the second half we felt we could win the game," he stated. "We know the First Division is very tough. We are newly promoted after many years, but we have a good team and we leave happy." Navarro also praised teammate Aubameyang, noting that "everyone knows the player he is" and that the team tries to help him score goals.
With this draw, Getafe have six points and sit in mid-table in the standings, while Deportivo reach ten points and continue their strong start to the season. The match showed the high competitive level of the division, where any team can cause problems for any opponent.
