Martín Satriano scored the equaliser to earn Getafe a point against Rayo Vallecano in matchday 9 of LaLiga EA Sports. The Uruguayan striker finished with his right foot from inside the six-yard box following a Francho Serrano cross to make it 1-1 at the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez.
Álvaro García had put the visitors ahead in the 11th minute, deftly diverting the ball to make it 0-1. Rayo dominated possession with 68% and created 21 shooting opportunities, but Getafe's defence, which made 24 clearances, managed to withstand most of the pressure. Goalkeeper David Soria was key with a spectacular dive to palm away a powerful long-range effort from Unai López that was heading for the top corner.
A point that feels insufficient
The draw leaves Getafe in 15th place in the standings with 8 points, having recorded two wins, two draws and four losses from their first eight games. José Bordalás's side has conceded 10 goals while scoring only 4, resulting in a -6 goal difference. This result follows a run of one win, two draws and two defeats in their last five outings, including the draw in Romania against Universitatea Craiova and the loss to Barcelona.
In Saturday's clash, Rayo pushed for a winner until the end. In added time, Alemão tested with a powerful strike from the box that Ives Valou managed to block, leading to a corner that came to nothing. Earlier, Adrià Pedrosa had rattled the post with a shot, in the clearest chance for the hosts to have won the game. "Martín Satriano finishes with his right foot from inside the six-yard box. Getafe equalises the match, the score is now 1-1," the goalscorer said afterwards.
Referee González Esteban showed yellow cards to players from both sides, including Enes Ünal, Dani Carvajal for dissent, and Pathé Ciss. Getafe's next fixture is a trip to San Mamés to face 11th-placed Athletic Club on October 25. The team will be looking for their third win of the season there.
